Does anyone's eye color change?
Whenever I cry or when I get angry, my eyes go from hazel, to green, then to brown. Does that happen to anyone else?Does anyone's eye color change?

Our Baby's Eye Color?
I'm 16 weeks pregnant now and I'm just dying to know what my chance are for my baby to have his/her dad's eye color. He has gorgeous crystal greenish sometimes blue eyes and mine are hazel. His mom has blue/green eyes, his dad and sister have brown eyes. I don't know about his grandparents off-hand. My dad has green/blue eyes and my mom and most of my siblings have brown eyes. I have 2 grandparents with blue or green eyes too on my dad's side. Please ONLY answer if you know true information about genetics, dominant/recessive genes and percentages of how they are transferred to your children/what the chances are of them being green/blue. So since both you and your baby's dad's eyes MUST be homozygous recessive (because he has light eyes). Your baby's dad got a ressesive gene for light color eyes from his mom and his dad MUST be Heterozygous (carries both genes). You also have light colored eyes so you are homozygous recessive also(meaning your mom gave you her recessive gene NOT the brown dominant gene). THIS MEANS NEITHER OF YOU COULD EVEN HAVE THE DOMINANT GENE TO CREATE BROWN EYES. You will each give your baby a recessive gene for light color eyes.
YOUR BABY WILL HAVE BLUE, GREEN, OR HAZEL EYES!!! 100% No way to tell which color of those because it is simply a trait of light or dark.

lasso or use the magic wand after you zoom into the eye....then click on image.....adjustments....and hue and saturation....and move the hue bar on the menu that comes up.....it's that easy and photoshop is a miracle program as far as I am concerned

I would say I don't have a favorite color but if I had to chose I would chose light green. It is really amazing and could stand out with anything. I have tried some in the past but wasn't impressed. I'm wanting to save my sis the trouble and or cost. In my experience it's not worth the money. I'm with you on that, my childs father has brown eyes, and I have blue-gray eyes. My Dad has blue eyes and my mom has Green and my brother and I ended up with Blue, but as far as my child I hope he has blue eyes like me. I'll start with eye color. Bear with me on this explanation. I will do my best to explain the genetics of it. Everyone has two genes for eye color; your baby will get one gene from you and one from your husband. Some genes are recessive and some are dominant. Dominant always wins out when paired with a recessive gene. Blue eyes are recessive and brown are dominant, meaning anyone who has a brown eye gene will be brown-eyed b/c the brown will overpower the recessive gene (blue, hazel, green). However, since your eyes are blue, you can determine you have two recessive genes (one from your mom and one from your dad), meaning your baby will automatically have one recessive gene. You husband is harder to gauge. Because he has brown eyes, he could have two dominant brown genes meaning the baby will automatically get one dominant from him and one recessive for you and 100% will have brown eyes. If your husband has one recessive and one dominant gene (one brown and one blue, one brown and one green, one brown and one hazel), the baby has a 50% chance of getting the dominant gene and being brown-eyed and 50% chance of getting the recessive gene, meaning not brown-eyed. I believe when someone has two recessive genes of different colors (a combo of hazel, blue, or green) it is a toss up. Baby could have blue, green, hazel, combination, etc. However, two recessive blue genes will always be produce a blue-eyed baby. Theoretically, you could even have one blue gene and another color recessive gene. The hard part is that unless you can trace back a few generations based on your families' eye colors, you have no way of knowing who has what color genes. One of your husband's parents has to have brown eyes for him to have gotten that dominant gene. If one of his parents has a light color eye, that means your husband for sure has one recessive and one dominant and your baby has 50/50 shot of being brown eyed. Hopefully, that makes sense. In the long run, unless you are sure of the genes, you can't figure out the baby's eye color.
Now, I don't know much about genes for skin color because I don't think it is as straightforward to teach in high school/college as eye color, but from personal experience your baby could be anything ranging from your color to his color or maybe even darker depending on his genes. My friends pretty much match your descriptions pretty well, only reversed. The female is columbian and male has light complexion. Both their children have light/medium skin complexion, but I think skin color is much more of a toss-up than eye color. Sorry there is no definite answer, but part of the fun is the surprise anyway! I'm sure your child will have a fairly light complexion. The eye color can go either way. Interestingly, I've known several white women married to Mexican men whose kids had a beautiful auburn/ginger hair color. The mothers were all blondes, and the fathers all had very dark brown/black hair.
I would guess that the baby will have blue eyes and a light complexion. Both my husband and I are mixed - I'm 1/2 white and 1/2 hispanic, and my husband is 1/2 white and 1/2 Mexican. I have a brown colored skin tone with brown eyes, and my husband is fair skinned with green eyes. One of our sons has an olive colored skin tone with hazel eyes, and the other has a lighter complexion with blue eyes.

vagirlhi is close. Eye color is more complex then we thought at one time and involves several genes, but more then likely the baby will have brown eyes with perhaps green coloring. The first link is illustrative on that point and a little fun - it will tell you the probability of eye colors for a potential child.
Skin coloring involves 30-40 or perhaps more then 100 and is additive - so that that light and dark mix to make an intermediate. But that's just the genetics, my two sons are naturally many shades apart and they come from two light skinned individuals. If one of his parents has a light color eye, that means your husband for sure has one recessive and one dominant and your baby has 50/50 shot of being brown eyed. Hopefully, that makes sense. In the long run, unless you are sure of the genes, you can't figure out the baby's eye color.
Now, I don't know much about genes for skin color because I don't think it is as straightforward to teach in high school/college as eye color, but from personal experience your baby could be anything ranging from your color to his color or maybe even darker depending on his genes. My friends pretty much match your descriptions pretty well, only reversed. The female is columbian and male has light complexion. Both their children have light/medium skin complexion, but I think skin color is much more of a toss-up than eye color. Sorry there is no definite answer, but part of the fun is the surprise anyway! I'm sure your child will have a fairly light complexion. The eye color can go either way. Interestingly, I've known several white women married to Mexican men whose kids had a beautiful auburn/ginger hair color. The mothers were all blondes, and the fathers all had very dark brown/black hair.
I would guess that the baby will have blue eyes and a light complexion. Both my husband and I are mixed - I'm 1/2 white and 1/2 hispanic, and my husband is 1/2 white and 1/2 Mexican. I have a brown colored skin tone with brown eyes, and my husband is fair skinned with green eyes. One of our sons has an olive colored skin tone with hazel eyes, and the other has a lighter complexion with blue eyes.

vagirlhi is close. Eye color is more complex then we thought at one time and involves several genes, but more then likely the baby will have brown eyes with perhaps green coloring. The first link is illustrative on that point and a little fun - it will tell you the probability of eye colors for a potential child.
Skin coloring involves 30-40 or perhaps more then 100 and is additive - so that that light and dark mix to make an intermediate. But that's just the genetics, my two sons are naturally many shades apart and they come from two light skinned individuals. One has golden hues and tans readily, the younger is quite pale and looks like he's going to have freckles.
In general the child you might have with your boyfriend will have intermediate skin tones of the two of you and brown eyes - but there are many shades and hues of skin there as well as the eyes.

Is my eye color rare?
my eyes are a blue ish color. with green more towards the middle, and specks of brown with the green. but blue is more than any other color.

My mom has really light green eyes and my dad has blue eyes. I had blue eyes until i was 3 years old, then they gradually turned into the color I have now which is a dark hazel green color. I have green eyes and have found that browns, dark purple and shades of gold look really good. Loreal Hip pigment has a purple and gold eye shadow that I love! Stay away from greens and really light colors, earth tones are the way to go!

So a long time ago I heard a rumor of some celebrity who had undergone some procedure and changed his brown eyes to...some other color. I brushed it off b/c I didn't see how that was possible.
Then just this past week I heard about another celeb doing it.

I am not an ophthalmologist, but I am in the medical field - and I have honestly never heard anything like that. In knowing the basic structures of the eye - such as the iris - which is what contains the color - I personally think it would be impossible. Essentially, the iris (or colorful part of the eye) is a fibrous tissue that connects to the stroma - or part of the eye that reacts to the power of light. As such, the only thing that can determine color - is on the cellular level. So... to change color - at least medically, the dna makeup of the iris specific cells would have to be altered.Changing your eye color...medically? Is this true?

OK, my father says that his father's mother's mother was Shoshone. My mother says this is not possible, because apparently my brother and I were the only grandchildren on my father's side with brown eyes, which our mother has. My father's eyes are green, same as his two brothers' (who both married blue-eyed women), his father's eyes were blue, and his mother's eyes were green. I do not know the eye color of my father's paternal grandmother, or of any of my father's cousins on the paternal side. My mother's 7 siblings have various eye colors.
From this information, is there any way to tell whether my father's father's mother's mother was Shoshone? If not, what information would I need to determine, by eye color, whether this is possible? I would be proud to have some Native American heritage, but the story's source, my grandad, had a propensity for tall tales, so I don't know what to think...all the family records were lost in a house fire...should I just hire a geneologist?Geneology and eye color? Am I part Native American?

If she married a man with blue or green eyes and their daughter married a man with blue eyes then it is possible for your grandfather to have blue eyes. That's probably not true, but let's assume that all Shoshone do have brown eyes and, furthermore, that they have no recessive genes anywhere in their heritage, which is also not really true. In that case, any Shoshone can only have children with brown eyes, because of the dominance of brown in eye color. However, if the other parent of that child is not a Shoshone, the child might have a recessive gene for a lighter eye color. If the child has a child with a non-Shoshone, the grandchild could have any eye color, because the first child can contribute a recessive gene and that child's spouse can contribute any gene from the non-Shoshone population.
